Back to School… & Back to Skin Health Basics!

Hi, I’m Tara, your “teacher” in all things skincare & “skin health.” 🤓 Welcome back to school!

Tara, Owner of Elevated Aesthetics, & NP

Time for growing your minds and for routines again. Let’s get back to the basics and get back to our regular skincare routines. Although summer was fun, it can cause us to become lackadaisical with our skin health.

🍎 Wash your face before bed & double cleanse!

🍎 Use a cleanser made for your face, not body wash or bar soap! Budget-friendly options: La Roche Posay or Cerave

🍎 Add in just 1 anti-aging skincare item. This will be your “splurge” item because the quality matters here. This can be a Vit C, retinol, or Hyaluronic Acid.

✏️ Newer medical grade Vitamin C products are no longer irritating, so you can add it with confidence. My rec: skinbetter’s Alto Advanced or Hydrinity’s line of HA serums which have some in them as well vs their combo Vit C/moisturizer product, Hydri-C.

✏️ Retinols are typically irritating. 2 options: if you’re going to use Rx tretinoin, but can’t do it more than 3 times a week due to sensitivity, try sandwiching it between a layer of moisturizer before and after. The other solution is skinbetter’s AlphaRet Overnight Cream, which has AHA to act as a buffer and allow for more tolerance and regular use.

✏️ Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is typically too large of a molecule to get into the dermis where it can be used. You’re wasting your $$ buying it at Ulta or Sephora. Go with the Hydrinity line of super-charged HA serums, which contain a peptide complex that as a ferry from your epidermis (the mainland) to the dermis (the island)

🍎 Add the above products in just 1 at a time, once a month. I do have a recommended order of which ones to add first, based on your needs and skin health. A consultation with me will help you prioritize which one to do 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

🍎 Finish your routine with a moisturizer. This is an area that unless you have dry skin, you can wait to splurge later on. Normal to combination skin? A budget-friendly option is the Triple Repair Moisturizer by La Roche Posay. Looking for a medical grade option? Go with Hydrinity-C (light), Trio Rebalancing (little heavier), or Trio Luxe (heaviest)

Looking for a simple equation for good skin health that keeps it easy?

Cleanser  +  ❎  +  Moisturizer = Happy Skin, where ❎ = Vit C, retinol, and/or HA

I know the skincare world is overwhelming. Let me help you simplify it with a customized skincare regimen made just for you. Routine can be a good thing!

XOXO,

Tara
