Giving Back to the Community
Kriquette’s Kidz
Many of the proceeds from the events we host go to Kriquette’s Kidz, a Wayne County nonprofit supporting families referred to them for help.
It began as a Christmas drive in 2000 and grew into something year-round. Today that means groceries for working families caught in the gap, help covering essentials, holiday shopping alongside a volunteer, and a new bike and helmet for kids who need one. Last year 424 families were served, with 575 volunteers giving more than 1,700 hours.
Honor Our Firsts
We sponsor the bar at the Honor Our Firsts Gala, held every March in Goldsboro. It’s an evening in honor of Wayne County’s first responders, and close to 700 people come out for it, from agencies across Wayne County and Eastern North Carolina.
What’s raised goes back into training the next generation — the board has funded first responder training at Wayne Community College two years running.
